About Me
Hello! My name is Mark Valdemar. I was born in Los Angeles in the 80’s, graduated from the University of Southern California, and have lived up and down the state of California.
Throughout my life, I’ve had a love of stories. I read, and watched a lot of movies growing up. I’ve held creative jobs such as Graphic Designer, Photographer, and Web Designer. I always approached each gig as an attempt to tell a visual story. The goal is always to let the viewer witness a moment in time.
My goal for RPG Treasure is to provide help and resources for others to tell their own stories. Don’t worry about struggling at first, because it’s worth it in the end. Let your creativity flow and good things will come!
My RPG Story
The first Table-Top Role Playing Game that I remember playing was the Marvel Super Heroes RPG from 1984. My brother and I were obsessed with it. We collected every module, map, and cardboard mini we could find. It was the very idea that I could be a super hero too, fighting along side the characters I read about every week that excited me. As we created our own characters and adventures, felt the pangs of defeat and the thrill of success, I was hooked for life.
From there, we played an RPG nearly every weekend with cousins and friends. We tried as many as we could get our hands on through the decades. I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but at one point or another we played MechWarrior (a Battle Tech RPG), The Marvel SAGA Edition (still one of my favorites!), Star Wars (d20 system from Wizards of the Coast), a short-lived game based on The Wheel of Time, and countless others.
Of course, the one we always went back to, and one of the games we still play, is Dungeons & Dragons. I was first introduced to it during the 3rd Edition days. I have no idea how many campaigns and adventures I’ve played in since then. I’ve had many Dungeon Masters, and eventually decided that I wanted to try my hand at that role as well.
I love creating scenarios to put players through. We share that same swell of emotions when a big moment happens that sparked my love for RPGs from the beginning. Nothing thrills me more than to see the look on a brand new player’s face when they let their guard down, get immersed in the story, and thoroughly enjoy themselves.
